Tough Day
Today has not been such a great day for us and house building . When we got to the house this evening we realized that the fireplace was not going to work! From the original plan the fireplace was suppose to be vented through a wall. It was only suppose to stick out in the floor about 12 inches on the plan. But when we saw it this evening it was going to be about 3 feet out in the living room floor. I to say the least almost had a heart attack. The framers had nailed it down to the concrete floor so it will damage the concrete to just pull it up. Because we are doing stained concrete floors that would be horrible. Our solution is to take the fireplace totally out and grind the nails down. You will still be able to see them somewhat put maybe it won't be to bad. I am told that NO house is ever perfect. I guess on the bright side we got our windows put in today and they look very nice. Randy told me I could get a nicer front door because of the fireplace being gone. Good thing seeing I didn't know I wasn't suppose to get the nicer one and already had my heart set on it. I pray that tomorrow will be a stress free day for everyone. I'll take some pictures tomorrow.

Sounds like this house is going to be done soon. Windows and a roof, what else could you need? Can't wait to see the pictures.
hey maybe you could go with a free standing fireplace that uses gas or propane they make some very nice ones , just an idea.

It will work out and I'm sure you will be happy without the fireplace. At least you will have more wall space and you can a change your furniture around in different ways, so that's good. Can't wait to see the next pictures.
